Sarah and Bert planned a beautiful wedding at their alma mater Yale followed by a reception at the classic Wadsworth Mansion. They wanted a scheme that paid homage to their ethnicities (Bert’s a dutchman and Sarah has Persian roots) so they wanted a classic feel while incorporating soft golds and rich jewel toned florals. For the centerpieces our challenge was to collect antique brass containers with a certain aesthetic and yet keep a mismatched heirloom collection feel to the pieces. Some tables featured one large container, others a cluster of smaller containers each with just a few blossoms in them. Some of the flowers used were tulips of course, yellow gold ranunculus, lilac, lavender, garden roses, and olive foliage. The cheerful, slightly chilly spring day (the maids had pashminas to keep them warm) was perfect.
